Part Time Optometrist *Location:* On site in Fayetteville, NC 28311 or Morrisville, NC 27560 *Hours:* Approximately 16 hours per month *Schedule:* Saturdays and/or Sundays, with scheduled work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. We are seeking an optometrist to perform eye examinations supporting military flight physicals and medical readiness for the North Carolina Army National Guard. This is a limited hours, recurring weekend opportunity that may fit alongside an existing practice or position. Work is scheduled around drill dates. The 16 monthly hours may be grouped into specific weekends rather than spread evenly across each week. The potential worksites are Simmons Army Airfield in Fayetteville and CAB Headquarters in Morrisville. The assigned site, any requirement to cover both locations and the exact schedule will be confirmed during the hiring process. Responsibilities * Perform eye examinations following applicable Army aviation standards and guidance. * Assess near and distance vision, eye alignment, convergence, intraocular pressure, color vision, depth perception and visual fields. * Perform manifest or cycloplegic refraction as required. * Perform corneal topography for Class 1 flight physicals. * Write prescriptions and order glasses through the Spectacle Request Transmission System, or SRTS. * Complete DA Form 7655, DD 2808 and DD Form 771. * Obtain required access to MEDPROS Web Data Entry and update vision examination results. * Prepare a monthly tracker documenting services completed during each drill. Required Qualifications * Current North Carolina license to practice optometry. * Experience performing aviation eye examinations. * Ability to perform the listed examinations and complete accurate clinical documentation. * Availability for recurring weekend assignments. * Ability to attend the assigned worksite in person. Preferred Experience * Experience supporting military flight physicals. * Familiarity with Army aviation vision standards. * Experience with SRTS, MEDPROS and the listed military forms.
