For yard operations, you will ensure that material is accurately pulled and staged for pickup and delivery. You will assist with dispatching by structuring the shipping of orders, including scheduling. You will be responsible for maintaining the inventory in the yard by conducting cycle counts and keeping the yard organized. You will ensure all yard policies are followed including sales, inventory, and safety. Finally, you will take charge of maintaining all equipment; scheduling vehicles for service and keeping up their maintenance schedules. Work hours will vary according to the school system's approved field-trip and activity transportation needs and may include daytime, early morning, and extended-hour assignments. The employee operates school system activity buses in accordance with North Carolina law, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction requirements, North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles requirements, State Board of Education policies, and local board of education policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Operates an assigned school activity bus safely and professionally to transport students and authorized passengers. Provides transportation for field trips. Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports vehicle defects or safety concerns promptly. Operates the assigned vehicle in compliance with applicable North Carolina traffic laws, commercial motor vehicle regulations, and school transportation requirements. Follows all school system policies governing student transportation, confidentiality, professional conduct, use of electronic devices, and employee responsibilities. Participates in required transportation, safety, and professional development activities. Maintains all required licenses, endorsements, certifications, medical qualifications, and training. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of six months of driving experience with a full driver's license, as required by North Carolina for school bus endorsement eligibility. Previous experience transporting students, children, passengers, or operating commercial passenger vehicles is preferred. North Carolina requires a school bus endorsement applicant to be at least 18 years old and have at least six months of driving experience with a full license. NCDOT REQUIRED LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION The employee must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all credentials required by North Carolina and the local school system to operate the assigned school activity bus. Commercial Driver License A valid North Carolina Commercial Driver License (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle being operated is required. The CDL must include: P – Passenger endorsement S – School Bus endorsement North Carolina requires the P and S endorsements for school bus and school activity bus operation. The school system shall determine the required CDL class based upon the specifications of the vehicle(s) assigned to the employee. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience • Courteous and helpful to other associates • Protect company assets through the proper and accurate receipt and return of DSD product • Demonstrate and execute proper vendor receiving policies established by Food Lion • Work with vendors to resolve vendor errors, policy violations or excessive inventory, etc. • Work with the Assistant Store Manager to ensure timely promotions by all vendors • Ensure weekly merchandising notes are implemented timely • Verify that DSD plan-o-grams are accurate • Account for daily and weekly DSD tickets, beer and wine invoices and properly file • Check EDI invoices to ensure there are no outstanding invoices • Handle all reclaim and damages • Responsible for consistently conducting CAO related activities, stocking, and rotating cigarette cartons • Understand and use company tools such as; average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO) • Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice • Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures • Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents • Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations • Wear the Food Lion uniform, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Food Lion dress code • Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses • Perform all other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS • High school graduate or equivalent preferred • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job • Ability to use technical information to solve problems • Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations" PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions • Perform repetitive hand and arm motions • Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion • Pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion • Stand 100% of the time, frequently walking short distances • Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants/flowers and household cleaners • Use hands to frequently/continuously handle currency (paper and coin) as well as operate a variety of equipment such as cash register, lottery machine (where applicable), scanner, computer, and calculator • Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level: occasionally above shoulder or below waist level • Meet established volume activity standards for the position • Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time • Have sufficient visual ability to check ID cards, checks, invoices and other written documents" Food Lion provides equal employment opportunities to all associates and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth and related conditions) national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, gender identity or gender expression or any other characteristic protected by law.
