Position Summary One of our newest factories, located along the Virginia border, breathes new life into a former brewery, creating an innovative and technologically advanced pet food manufacturing facility. As the Engineering Manager, you’ll manage the engineering and maintenance functions to ensure efficient and trouble-free operation of the plant. You’ll be responsible for the effective and timely delivery of services and expertise in the areas of construction, management and implementation of the capital budget, utilities generation and distribution, process improvement, maintenance, and miscellaneous support and services in support of the plant operations. Develop, implement, and coordinate the capital budget to improve and maintain equipment and facilities. Inspect and advise on all areas of the plant for equipment design, evaluation and troubleshooting. Coordinate operation of steam generating, electrical power service, compressed gases, water, sewer, HVAC, process liquids, plant – wide lighting, buildings, grounds, and fire protection systems to provide uninterrupted service. Responsible for all outside contractors to assure compliance with all company standards including sanitation, safety, quality, productivity and budgeting. Direct the installation of new equipment and/or modification/rearrangement of existing equipment for assigned projects. Set the direction for maintenance and engineering training by providing the leadership, support, and training necessary for the development of each team member as a valued and critical resource. Responsible for the maintenance function of plant facilities and equipment with shared responsibility among Operating Department Managers for specific daily maintenance in their respective areas. Coordinate staffing requirements within the Department consistent with plant objectives. Establish standards of measurements for the Engineering and Maintenance Department performance and administer performance appraisals for all department members. Responsible for the review and approval of equipment purchase orders, contract service orders and plant service agreements. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, including people leadership and project management, within a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment Salary: $124,754.40 to $170,411.00 per year Bonus Eligibility: Yes The pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Individuals have knowledge or experience in machine operations, a keen eye for quality control and safety, the ability to solve problems and perform basic mathematics, and the desire to develop and expand their skills in a production-driven environment. Key Responsibilities: 3-5+ years' experience running CNC machines (Tornos, Mori-Seiki, New Britain, Mazak, Citizen, Kingsbury, Riello, Hydromat, Doosan, Daewoo, Bridgeport, Frontier) Experience using Go/No-go gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges and concentricity gauges to inspect Load bars into bar feeders contingent upon part Ensure coolant lines are properly set and flowing Demonstrate safe manual deburring techniques Ability to understand tool layouts Demonstrate manufacturing problem solving and escalation Ability to work safely and follow all safety procedures Education & Requirements: High school diploma or GED Machining or Trade school Ability to read blueprints a plus Ability to change filters & proper disposals, add coolant & lube a plus Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and basic shop mathematics, including measuring and effectively using calipers and other measuring tools Integrity - Reliability, Responsibility and Accountability Ability to learn new machines and production procedures Must be a team player and willing to adapt to an ever-changing work environment and engage in continuous personal development Ability to lift 45 pounds and perform repeated physical tasks Ability to perform work in a safe manner Must have high attention-to-detail and strong vision and hearing This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan. Assist a team of press operators to ensure quick and efficient make-readies for multicolor flexographic printing press. Assist with the setup, repair, operation and maintenance of the press. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Sets up, adjusts, maintains and operates a flexographic press in absence of an operator. Reviews job ticket and selects the proper type and quantity of material. Assists in material change-overs. Ensures correct material is present and organized for production runs. Cleans, lubricates and makes minor adjustments to maintain quality of production. Cleans and maintains press equipment (pans, pumps, anilox rolls, etc.) along with general common areas. Removes and mounts plates when needed. Replenishes inks and other raw material as needed. Notifies supervision of needed repairs or replacement parts. Moves loads of printed and unprinted stock when necessary. Assists the press operator with preventative maintenance of the press. Assists with other printing processes as needed and as directed by supervision. Complies with established safety procedures and policies. Follows established standard operating procedures. Completes required documentation. Assembles print cylinders and gears. Performs and reviews line clearance. Removes waste from the press area. Works with other departments and maintenance personnel on projects and/or validations. Performs other job duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have basic computer skills. Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must be able to pass a basic reading test. Must be able to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test or have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience. Must be able to maintain good attendance. Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
